The Story About Zam-Zam Water

Allah Almighty creates every living creature with water, without water it is impossible to survive for living creatures. Although water is very much precious to us but all water do not carry the same value and significance like ZamZam water. ZamZam water is a gift to Muslims from GOD. Muslims love and crave this Holy water to drink whenever and wherever they can.

The one who are luckiest and manage to go to Hajj bring ZamZam water as a gift for their friends and family. Prophet PBUH said:

“The water of ZamZam is for whatever purpose it is drunk for.”

What is ZamZam water?

The well of Zam-Zam water is located near the Holy Kaaba in Masjid-e-Haram Makkah, Saudi Arabia. If you get Umrah Package for performing umrah so you know about all the details of umrah package. The Holy water congregated from the ZamZam well is called ZamZam water. This sacred well dates back to 2000 BC and it is approx. 30 m deep and its diameter is from 1.08 m to 2.66 m. the mysterious thing about ZamZam well is that it is fulfilling the needs of millions of pilgrims for centuries but the water is still in abundance and will never dry until the day of judgement. Every year millions of Muslims visit the Holy Kaaba to perform Hajj and Umrah. History of ZamZam well:

The well of ZamZam was revealed to Bibi Hajra who was the wife of Prophet Ibrahim and the mother of Prophet Ismael A.S, when she was running for the search of water on mount Safa and Marwah for his son.  Allah ordered Hazrat Ibrahim A.S to left his wife and infant son in the dessert of Makkah. At that time place it was an isolated place with no food and water but now this spot is adjacent to Kabah.  The love of mother at its peak when she is alone in a dessert with her child and her son is thirsty. At that moment she run seven times between Safa and Marwah mountains but could not find any help and then she pray to Allah to quench the thirst of his son. Allah then sent Hazrat Jibrael A.S and he struck the earth and water stream appeared near infant Ismael. In her effort to contain spring water She used the words ZamZam which means “stop flowing”.  Allah SWT liked her motherly act so much that He SWT made the running between Safa and Marwah seven times as a part of sacred worship Hajj and Umrah.

What is so special ZamZam about Hadiths:

Well the answer of this question is that Everything! Nothing is ordinary about ZamZam but everything is special. The miracle of how it appeared in the middle of dessert on the request of mother, its consistency even after the 1000 years, the beneficial qualities of this Holy water and also the fact that it never dries up because this water is special. Another interesting fact about this Holy water is that it is only 5 ft deep and far away from any other source or body of water but still its water never dries up. The ZamZam well is self-replenishing and it is continually replenishing itself to produce gallons upon gallons of water for the consumption of thirsty pilgrims along with additional amount that is bottled up and also the large amount that is taken as a gift by pilgrims to their family and friends and distributed worldwide to millions. Allah’s Messenger said:

“The best water on the face of the Earth is the water of ZamZam; it is a kind of food and a remedial from sickness.”

In another Hadith says:

“The most transcendent of all earthly waters is that of Zamzam; there one finds food for the hungry and medicine for the ill.”

When Prophet PBUH was a child, the two angels washed His heart, after they had taken it out, then they put it back. Al-Hafiz al-'Iraqi stated: "There is a motivation behind why the Prophet's heart was washed with Zamzam water was to make him sturdier so He could see the government of heaven and Earth and Paradise and Hell, because one of the unusual capabilities of Zamzam is that it strengthens the heart and tranquilities the soul. The report about the chest of the Prophet SAW being washed with the water of Zamzam is verified in the hadith of Abu Dharr R.A who reported that the Prophet PBUH said:

“My roof was opened when I was in Makkah, and Jibril A.S came down and opened my chest, then he washed it with ZamZam water. Then he fetched a gold basin full of wisdom and faith, dispensed it into my chest, and closed it up again. Then he took me by the hand and ascended with me into the first heaven”.

Miracles of ZamZam:

Yusria Abdul-Rahman Haraz said that:  her eye was affected by an ulcer. Her infection causes a frugal headache which could not be cured by medicines. She was about to become blind in the affected eye. She went to an eminent doctor who recommended to give her an injection which will stop the headache but it will also dysfunction the affected eye and subsequently she will lose the sight in the affected eye. Yusria was assured of the clemency of Allah. She thought of performing Umrah and supplicated to Allah to fix her. She come to Makkah and performed Tawaf, there were relatively few individuals and the territories not stuffed, in this manner, she could be with the Zamzam water for long time. She washed her eyes. When she came back to the hotel she found that her affected eye was cured and the ulcer disappeared. This event verifies that it is a validation of the Hadith which says:

“Zamzam water fulfils the purpose for which it has been drunk, if you drink it for getting cured Allah cures you, if you drink it for stomach gratification Allah will gratify you and if you drink it for quenching thirst Allah will quench your thirst”.
